Steffens-GWST - bowl cutter knives

Founded in 1882 by Gustav Walter Steffens in Remscheid Germany, the newly founded company “G.Walter Steffens machine knife and cutting tool works” with a work force of eight manufactured agricultural blades such as Chaf and straw cutters.

Continuing to grow through the early 1900’s and now employing 14-16 people, products had been extended to include mincing blades, cutter blades and bread knives.

Surviving the first and second World Wars, the new peace was accompanied by a new economic boom for the company.  During the 1950’s a special stainless steel was developed in the production works with the cooperation of the steel companies, the response from the trade was so good that the company was able to specialise in the manufacture of stainless steel blades from this steel.

The seventies saw technical improvements and innovations relating to the products by the company.  This saw the patenting in many countries of the SECURIT CUTTING SYSTEM.  This system is a brand name that today in known the world over.

G.Walter Steffens now in its fifth generation with Michael Steffens at the helm, manufacturing cutter knives for all leading bowl cutter names such as: Alpina, Laska, Kramer + Grebe, Kilia and Seydemann to name a few. 
Exporting approximately 75% of production to all countries of the world and continuing to improve quality through the development of new cutting systems, steel and continued introduction of CNC technology and automated machines, G.Walter Steffens remain world leaders in their field.
